WHAT'S
NEW
Faster,
Smaller Processing for High Tech Applications
Surface
Measurement Styli – as wafers become smaller and nanometers
become newest measuring criteria, inspection tooling is forced
to become smaller. We have developed the finest diamond styli
for measuring surface finish and geography and coating depths.
Micron & Sub-Micron
Tip Radii – allows verification of the smallest nook
or deviation. We also offer a surface electron microscope (S.E.M.)
image to verify the finish and geometry giving our customers
the ability to accurately measure and inspect to the highest
tolerances available.

EH-8 Put to the Test
In a recent series of tests conducted for Bruce
Diamond by an independent Master Engraver
with over 40 years
experience, the
EH-8 was put through its paces by engraving
a plaque of the
Gettysburg Address on a piece of 304L stainless
steel, one of the most difficult
materials to engrave. The tool sailed through
all 1,215 characters of 24-point type without
resharpening!
Typically,
the best
micrograin tool would need to be resharpened
after 100 characters or less
on 304L stainless.
Astounding success on other substrates
Additional tests were conducted on brass,
aluminum, plastic and phenolic showing significant
increases
of at least
5 times greater longevity in tool life. It
was also found that the quality of the work improved with
better tolerances and cleaner cuts.
Diamond
Quill
The newest
tool from Bruce Diamond Corporation, this engraving tool produces
a decorative look in a calligraphic style.
Hand engraved look
The Diamond Quill was designed as a custom
tool project for jewelers who wanted
an alternative to hand engraving – a vanishing, but
profitable, art.
Maximum creativity
The Diamond Quill is used exactly as if
it were a drag engraving tool, except
it cuts
a variable
line
width.
The blade of the tool is mounted
parallel
to the base of the piece being worked on. Up an down
strokes will be widest, while those
across will be narrow.
Tools can be ordered in different blade sizes which
will determine the maximum line width and, accordingly,
the
appropriate letter
size. Small
blades can
be used for jewelry, wider blades for larger letters
on plaques and tropies. A curved
letter, such as "C", will have an engraved line varying in width as
the tool moves around the curve of the letter. As an example, if you were to
engrave a circle in a clockwise direction, the line would be marrow at 12 o’clock,
increasing to a maximum width at 3 o’clock, then narrowing again approaching
6 o’clock. A slight turning of the tool in your
machine of approximately 5 degrees produces an excellent
look when engraving a script typestyle. Experimentation
with various fonts and tool positions enables you to
create your own style.
Higher profit potential
The Diamond Quill can be used in a simple pantograph
machine or is equally at home in a computer engraver
and can be
mastered in
a matter
of minutes.
The Diamond
Quill engraves in a unique, decorative style
and can add a new level of quality and value to many
engravable
products.
This,
of course,
opens the
door to
additional sales and profits and an opportunity
for higher margins.
